Elisabeth

In collaboration with Hip Company, choreographer Claire Voss brings the music of French Baroque composer Élisabeth Jacquet de la Guerre to life through dance. Élisabeth is a one-hour performance that blends historically informed music with contemporary movement, reimagining what Baroque dance might look like today—freed from the constraints of corsetry, etiquette, and expectation.

Rooted in the elegance of traditional French Baroque vocabulary and infused with a modern sensibility, the choreography explores a liberated physicality while remaining true to the spirit of the era. Featuring a live Baroque ensemble and two dancers, the piece is designed to animate the composer’s voice between musical movements.

This intimate production is envisioned as the beginning of a larger journey, with future iterations expanding to include additional dancers.
